About Us

Solutions was established in 2002 and is a trading name of North East Business Solutions Limited. Initially the business provided Investors and People support to organisation of all sizes and across all sectors, including schools, colleges and universities.

Additional services were added to the delivery portfolio which now includes support to the legal firms and advisory agencies.

Malcolm Lawson is the Director of the business and is supported by a number of specialist associates each with a wealth or skills and experience.

Malcolm Lawson gained an MBA. at Durham University and has worked in further education and training for over 25 years. He has been working with the Investors in People standard as a licensed adviser and assessor since 1992, and is currently an international adviser and assessor, developing the Investors in People Standard in many other countries. Malcolm is also accredited to assess Health and Well Being Standard, also accredited by Investors in People.

He has experienced a wide range of HR and Business Management practices through his involvement with Investors in People. Malcolm has been an Investors in People Adviser and Assessor since 1993 and conducted national and international Investors in People activities.

Malcolm is also a registered consultant and assessor for the Law Society’s Lexcel Practice Management Standard, Specialist Quality Mark and the General Quality Mark and has been involved in advising and assessing many legal firms and in house practices throughout England.

He has a keen interest in supporting small business development and has assisted many pre-start businesses to develop their business idea and start trading. Indeed Malcolm has other small businesses of his own, which provides first-hand experience of the challenges faced by small businesses. This is very useful experience in his role as a SFEDI assessor working with social enterprise and supporting the capability development of other business advisors, who are part of wider delivery network.

Malcolm’s has a very broad range of experience working across the different vocational sectors, including schools, public, voluntary and private sectors and with organisations of varying sizes, from SME’s to large multi-national organisations. He also undertook a national assessor role against the business excellence model in 1998/99 for the British Quality Foundation.

He was previously employed as the Workforce development Manager for Tees Valley Training and Enterprise Council, and then for the Business Link in Tees Valley. For the last 8 years he has been running his own limited company providing human resource development, training and associated assessment services to a wide range of organisations of differing sizes and occupational areas, including the British Army and the RAF.
